Digital Marketing Resume Sample
Whether you specialize in SEO or work the alphabet from affiliate marketing to website design, there’s a company looking to hire you right now. Digital marketers are in high demand — both as freelance contractors and as key members of a marketing team. The trick is getting your resume through the screening process and into the hands of the right person.
You need to prove you have the necessary skills to handle the job with digital marketing resume keywords. Many companies use applicant tracking systems (ATS), software that scans your resume and ranks it for certain terms. Use both industry-specific and soft-skill terms to increase your chances of making it through the first round.
When writing your resume, remember to plan it out. First, you want to reassure hiring personnel — and their computers — that you’re a capable professional who checks all of their boxes. Then, you have to hook them with a vision of the benefits that you can offer their company. Using the right digital marketing resume keywords will help you cover both goals.

Why this resume works
Digital Marketing Resume Skills and Keywords
Marketing firms and departments don’t want to waste valuable time training someone to perform the basic responsibilities of their job. Pick the right resume skills to let them know that you already have the experience they need from a new employee. You can and should take advantage of your skills section to list some of these resume keywords, but sprinkle this language throughout the resume, too.

The exact digital marketing skills you need to highlight will depend on your area of specialization (if you have one) and on the job description. Based on those, you’ll need to include terms that belong to at least some of the major digital marketing channels: content marketing, SEO, digital advertising, email marketing, social media marketing, and web development.
5 Digital Marketing Resume Writing Tips
As a digital marketer, you have the opportunity to showcase your marketing skills in the resume itself.
1. Use a headline and summary
Sure, these resume elements are “optional,” but they’re a great way for you to focus your resume. Demonstrate your ability to get right to the heart of a matter and leave your audience wanting more with a focused pitch that highlights your unique strengths.
2. Make sure to hit marketing firms’ most-searched skills
Working with keywords is in your job description, so don’t neglect the top search terms for digital marketing employees. The most desired soft skill is problem-solving, and employers are constantly looking for people with digital marketing skills in the fields of digital advertising and content creation.
3. Focus on accomplishments, rather than responsibilities
Your successes are wins, but the day-to-day tasks are only ties. Once your resume moves past the ATS, the person reviewing it wants to know how you will add value to their existing team.
Highlight past work that had a clear pay-off for your previous employer. When you can, include metrics that quantify your success. For example, you may have run a campaign that collected a certain number of leads or improved a company’s average conversion rate on PPC search ads. Provide these numbers as concrete proof of your contributions.
4. Be both stylish and modern, but don’t take risks with the actual design of the resume
You may have graphic design experience, but hiring managers need to be able to scan your resume quickly. When you depart from fairly standard templates, you force them to hunt down information. Often, they’ll just move onto the next job candidate.
ATS software also needs to be able to scan your resume for keywords, which gives you even more reason to stick to clear and traditional designs. Let your resume look like any of the digital marketing resume samples you might find online and save your creativity for your website, instead.
5. Have a personal website and include the link on your resume
Even if web development isn’t your specialty, it’s good to have some basic familiarity. As stated above, this is also your opportunity to give intrigued employers a better sense of your personality and breadth.
